How to care for Genuine Leather Products

How to care for Genuine Leather Products

Leather is a strong material and is very durable and best of all it is a wipe-clean surface making it ideal for furniture, but like all furniture there are many things you can do to prolong the life of this fantastic furniture.

These good housekeeping tips will keep your leather furniture in top condition, regularly wiping any dust or spills with a clean dry cloth, if your sofa has any crevices, such as the buttons on the Chesterfield range, it would be beneficial to vacuum any dust or debris. If you are cleaning up a spill that requires water use as little as possible and never use any soaps or detergents as this may cause more damage to the leather and ensure the area is dried afterwards.

It is recommended to keep genuine leather at least 30cm from any direct heat sources, such as radiators, and avoid direct sunlight where possible as this can fade the colour faster than usual.

Maintaining the look

There are many care products on the market which are great for keeping your leather furniture from drying out and regular use will keep your leather fresh and greatly improve the durability, it is recommended to use these products to every 6 to 12 months, however this will vary from brand to brand always read the label to check the individual brands guidelines before applying to your furniture.
